We all know how enjoyable reading can be. As part of our on-going project to celebrate reading we have recently launched our Buddy Reading project for 2012/13.
This is the third year the Reading Buddy Programme has been run at St Patrick’s. In the beginning of the Autumn Term Year 5 and 6 Pupils are invited to apply for the post of Reading Buddy. Children are invited to interview where they are asked to talk about what books they like to read, the characteristics of a good reader and what skills they have that will make them an effective buddy reader.
Successful candidates are awarded their Buddy Reading badges in assembly. Then the hard work begins. Buddy Readers are each assigned a Year 1 or 2 child to read with. Buddy Reading takes place Tuesday and Thursday 8.45 – 9am.
Here are some of our Buddies and their readers. I hope you enjoy looking at their pictures.
